About the Women’s Institute
Formed more than a century ago, today the Women’s Institute is the largest women’s organisation in the United Kingdom. Membership of the W.I. offers the opportunity to meet women in your local area, to make friends and make a difference in the community. Nationally, the organisation campaigns on a wide range of issues and provides life-long learning and self-development opportunities for women in England and Wales.
The W.I.’s mission has four key components; a vision to create a world where women come together to learn, share skills and work together; to connect women of all ages and backgrounds, offering a unique chance to share experiences, tackle social isolation and build community cohesion; to support women to learn, develop new skills and achieve goals throughout life; and to empower women to use their voice both individually and collectively, to achieve change on the issues that matter to them.
