Malvern Rotary Club
Emergency Covid-19 Appeal
As with many charitable organisations, the Covid-19 pandemic has had a profound effect on the Malvern Rotary Club’s ability to carry out its planned fundraising projects during 2020.
However, with the club’s commitment to the local community, an emergency fund was created at the start of the full lockdown.
Adding funds from our existing charity accounts we were able to take an active part in the community by providing support for vulnerable people and families, whether it be through donations to groups such as the Malvern Food Bank, local volunteer groups or the purchasing of food parcels for individuals. During the current period of the pandemic Malvern Rotary has been able to provide support and assistance for over 100 individuals and families.
In order to provide help and support to these families and individuals, the Malvern Rotary Club is extending its Emergency Covid-19 fund to a wider public. Already we have gathered together partners, who like ourselves have recognised the need for our community to pull together and help those in need.
We are proud to have Waitrose and The Morgan Motor Company alongside us. Both companies have been great supporters and donors to Rotary projects and charities and we are extremely grateful for their help. We are joined by Audley Ellerslie Villages Great Malvern, who have also agreed to participate in our appeal and we thank them for their commitment to our community.
As we approach Christmas the situation looks difficult for many families, so along with our partners we are launching our Christmas Hamper Appeal. We hope to raise enough money to be able to provide hampers for those families in our community who are suffering hardship, especially in the run up to Christmas. Alongside this we are launching our Tree of Light appeal which many of you will be familiar with.
It is hoped that with the successful launch of these two events we can bring help and comfort to those in our community who are suffering hardship and stress during these difficult times.

YOUR COMMUNITY NEEDS YOU
Malvern Rotary Club is expanding
– be a part of it
In addition to raising funds to support its own activities, as well as different groups and charities, Malvern Rotary Club gets involved with hands-on projects.
In the last 6 months, many people have come forward to help those shielding from COVID-19 or volunteer in some other way. This may have been to collect and deliver shopping or prescriptions or provide other assistance. You may be one of them. But how do you continue supporting your local community?
Malvern Rotary Club is to expand its projects that directly support those that need help in some way and we are looking for people like you to get involved.
What’s more, we are looking for that group of people to come with ideas of what support or projects they think are needed. That way, we get more people involved in projects they believe in.
This may be something that requires just a few hours a month, maybe across a couple of days or evenings. That really depends on the projects that are chosen. For example, with our Christmas Hamper Appeal, we may require some time for collecting items, packing and delivering hampers.
If you feel you would like to join us and make a difference, please contact us on info@malvernrotary.co.uk

ROTARY TREE OF LIGHT
Remember a Life or Pay Tribute for a kind deed
The Rotary Club of Malvern is pleased to announce that we will be organising the annual Tree of Light remembrance ceremony in the run up to Christmas.
We will be lighting up a 100ft tree in Priory Park, Malvern and inviting you to sponsor a light in memory of someone who is dear to you, whether they are a family member who is no longer with us, or perhaps someone who has gone the extra mile to help and support you through the Covid-19 crisis.
Last year we raised over £11,500 for our chosen charities and this year we are hoping to raise even more. This will enable us to support more local Malvern charities who we know will be called upon to help local victims of the Covid-19 crisis who are in desperate need of our help.
Beneficiaries this year will include our Christmas Hamper Appeal, Acorns Children’s Hospice and Macmillan, as well as others in need locally.
Lists of the names remembered and their sponsors messages will be displayed on a large screen in the Malvern Theatre from early November and will also be displayed from early December onwards on the Malvern Rotary website at malvernrotaryclub.org
The complete list of names will also be printed in the Christmas edition of the Malvern Gazette.
Everyone is invited to see the lights switched on at 6:30pm on Monday 30th November 2020.
If you would like to sponsor a light this year, please complete the form overleaf in CAPITAL LETTERS and send it with your cheque for a suggested minimum of £5 for each person remembered.
If you have any questions or would like more information, please email

Thank you for making a difference!
