Rotary Club of Malvern

Rotary Club of Malvern - Malvern Rotary Club

Founded in 1947 we comprise 36 people from a wide variety of backgrounds and have celebrated our 65 years of service to people less fortunate than ourselves. We meet to enjoy good fellowship and to plan new projects as well as developing existing ones.

Here are some examples of our activities :

Organisation of Stroke Awareness event and supply of aquaboxes and shelterboxes to disaster areas.

A garden terrace has been constructed for the Elizabeth Fitzroy Dalvington home while work on the Dale Hall Bog for the Conservators continues as does our carbon capture project involving tree planting.

Inevitably there are fundraising activities. Our Christmas Tree of Light has since inception in 2003 raised over £100,000 principally for the benefit of Macmillan Cancer Support, St. Richard's Hospice, Acorns Children's Hospice, Midland Air Ambulance and the Malvern Community Hospital scanner.
Overall since 2001 over a quarter of a million pounds has been raised for worthy causes.

Although Malvern Rotary Club is largely autonomous it is part of an international movement of 34000 clubs and 1.2million members over the world , and as such has the benefit of the style and pattern of the overall body. So it has made its contribution to Rotary International's extraordinary project, Polio Plus - the global eradication of polio. When Rotary led the way in 1985 there were 350,000 new cases a year in 125 countries: now we are down to under 50 endemic cases in 3 countries. Rotary itself has produced over $1 billion and drawn in World Health Organisation and other substantial bodies and governments.

If you would like to put something back into society and experience excellent fellowship in the process, please do get in touch.

Meetings 7pm for 7.30pm every Monday (except Bank Holidays) - with a meal - usually at Worcestershire Golf Club.
