Ledbury Foodbank
Ledbury Foodbank has recently opened a new sub-branch in Bosbury. It runs in the parish hall, next to the church every Wednesday morning and is run by a dedicated team of volunteers.
Initially the new sub-branch will run for six months to see if there’s enough demand for the service. It only offers non-perishable food but apart from that, it runs in exactly the same way as the foodbank in Ledbury.
Ledbury Foodbank is a charity run entirely by volunteers, among whom are two retired social workers with considerable experience. It exists to help people living in Ledbury and surrounding villages if they are suffering financial hardship and finding it difficult to provide for themselves, their family or dependents.
A number of local agencies, schools, GP surgeries and charities can issue vouchers to people in need. They can take the voucher to the foodbank and exchange it for household essentials such as food, toiletries and household items.
Ledbury Foodbank operates from St Katherine’s Hall in Ledbury between 10am and Midday on Wednesdays and Fridays. The Bosbury sub-branch is currently open on Wednesdays only, between 9am and 11am.
It does rely on donations to carry out its work. Aldi in Ledbury donates food and there are donation trolleys in Tesco and The Co-op in Ledbury, as well as collection points dotted around town. The Foodbank’s website has a list of the foods and household items that are most in demand, and if you prefer you can make a financial donation via Paypal on the Foodbank’s website (see the web address below).
